Impact100 Genesee County’s goal is to provide high-impact grants that reach under-served populations, support nonprofits, and highlight unmet needs in our community. Through grant-making, we invest in nonprofits financially and by partnering with them to familiarize ourselves with their programs, services, and the communities they serve. In return, our partners assure us our process allows them to think bigger and more strategically about the work they do and the impact they have.
Project purpose: This project will continue to restore dignity to more Flint marginalized people who are sleeping on floors, especially children, through a good night’s sleep by delivering more free beds and bedding using delivery trucks. Serving a population of an estimated 15,000 people in Genesee County, mostly children, currently without a bed to sleep in.
Details of Proposed Project: The grant would provide the seed money to build a 40-foot by 60-foot pole barn to provide protected parking for delivery trucks. The pole barn will keep the trucks secure and safe from vandalism as well as on-site storage of mattresses, box springs, and bed frames.
