Impact100 Genesee County invites nonprofit organizations to apply for its inaugural grant of $57,000.

Members of the organization have been busy the last half year networking and bringing in members in order to raise enough funds to award a substantial grant.

“We are thrilled that in our first year we can offer a $57,000 grant to drive transformational change in Genesee County — and we are determined to get this to $100,000 in our second year,” said Katie Kool-Wray, president.

Impact100 Genesee County is a women’s 501(c) 3 collective giving organization in which each member contributes $1,000 or more annually.

“It has been inspiring, energizing, and humbling to meet so many women in our community who dedicate themselves to changing lives and making our community a better place for everyone. I truly never understood how many nonprofits there are doing great work all around us,” Kool-Wray said.

They currently have 57 members. The ultimate goal is to have at least 100 members in order to give a nonprofit a $100,000 grant.

“With a commitment to uniting a diverse group of women passionate about philanthropy, Impact100 Genesee County invites nonprofits to apply for a grant of $57,000,” according to the press release. “This significant grant, to be awarded to a single nonprofit organization, underscores Impact100 Genesee County’s dedication to driving positive change and supporting impactful initiatives within the community.”

Members of Impact100 Genesee County came together to pool their resources to fund high-impact grants across five key areas:

• Arts and Culture

• Children, Families, and Seniors

• Education

• Environment, Recreation, and Animal Welfare

• Health and Wellness

Nonprofit organizations seeking eligibility for the grant must meet specific criteria, including:

• Operating independently of a financial sponsor (with local affiliates able to apply under the 501(c) 3 of the national organization)

• Being located within Genesee County

• Possessing at least two full years of financial statements

• Maintaining an annual operating budget below $5,000,000

The grant application must be completed by Friday, May 10. For detailed information on the grant application process and eligibility criteria, visit the official Impact100 Genesee County website at impact100geneseecounty.org/grants.

The Impact100 Genesee County Grant Review Committee will decide on two to three finalists per focus area. A smaller group will do a deep dive on their financials, site visits and other information to determine the five finalists, one per focus area. The finalists will be announced by the end of August.

The five finalists will give a five minute presentation at the Big Give Event on September 26 at the Flint Farmers’ Market and all 57 members will vote on the winner.

Board members are Kerri Burba, Debbie Irvin, Andrea Kehoe, Lynn North, Vanessa Pringle, Jen Rygalski and Jessie Weir.
